Snapdragon vs MediaTek war always remains on top. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 is a mid-range chipset and Helio P20 is already is there to compete with it. In this article, we will be discussing in detail about Snapdragon 625 vs Helio P20 comparison. This is not the conclusion, we are just sharing our opinions, Hopefully, you would understand what I am trying to share. So without any further, let’s get started!

The MediaTek Helio P20 dubbed as MT-6757 where Snapdragon 625 model number is MSM8953. In CPU department, SD625 comes with octa-core (8 x 2.0GHz ARM Cortex-A53) CPU clocked at 2.0GHz and MT6757 has also octa-core but dual clustered CPU with 4 x ARM-A53 @ 2.3GHz and another 4 x ARM-A53 @ 1.6GHz.

Definitely, on board specs seem more attractive on MediaTek but here is a catch. The SD625 is built on 14nm FinFET technology which did wonder for it and results in great power efficiency and optimal performance. On the other hand, Helio P20 comes with 16nm process and optimizations are not that great as well. So, besides having more powerful cores still stays behind the SD625 chipset.

The GPU integration on Snapdragon 625 is Adreno 506 whereas ARM Mali-T880 MP2 powers the MediaTek Helio P20. So, there is no doubt remains the Adreno 506 is a great performer but Mali-T880 MP2 not bad either. Both the GPU can handle mid to high-end games, especially Adreno 506. In terms of camera, SD625 supports either Up to 24 MP camera or Dual 12MP + 12MP both front and rear. The Helio P20 able to handle up to Up to 24 MP camera or Dual 13MP + 13MP, so it has a slight edge over Snapdragon 625.

Regarding video, both the chipset can record and play up to UHD 4K video without any issue. In terms of memory,  SD625 is restricted to LPDDR3 while The M7-6757 can take LPDDR4X up to 6GB and LPDDR3 up to 4GB. Moving further to connectivity, Snapdragon 625 comes along with X9 LTE modem 2CA and Cat.6 2CA is supported on MediaTek which can maximum download up to 300Mbps and upload speed is up to 50Mbps. Apart from that, both the chipset are featuring all the necessary connectivity options which you can compare in given chart.

All in all, Snapdragon 625 is balanced chip and performs very well in all conditions. On the other hand, MediaTek also putting hard efforts on Helio P20 but still, they need to improve a lot of things. If you are getting a cheaper deal on MediaTek Helio P20 powered device then go ahead, otherwise, it is not preferable in similar price segment. Hopefully, you understood my concern.
